Daughters of Hope - India

My first foray into humanitarian photography work was with a college friend's social good enterprise in Bangalore, India. Daughters provides local marginalized women, many of them widows, dignified and fair-wage work while also providing meals, support, and childcare for their children. Traveling to India for the first time while witnessing and supporting this work with my particular skillset (photographic storytelling) was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It lit a fire in my belly and to this day I am the most fulfilled when I get to travel across borders and cultures to witness and lend my lens to the stories of courage and resilience women have to share.

Below: Images from the Daughters job center, professional portraits of the women, and a "day in the life" shoot with Usha, a widow with two girls.
